Christmas Market for Kids:
The Fairy-Tale Ships on the Binnenalster
Colorful glitter world for children: The fairy-tale ships can be found on the Alster - more precisely they are located on the "Binnenalster" at the Ballindamm (this is the east side, on which you will also find the shopping mall "Europapassage"). Within walking distance: The Christmas Market at the Jungfernstieg.
Perfect for young families
In addition to all the other Christmas markets in Hamburg we would like to introduce the "Märchenschiffe" (fairy-tale ships) here. A real peculiarity of the Hansestadt Hamburg. At Christmas time, different ships, which otherwise transport visitors and the inhabitants of Hamburg via the Alster, convert into a little world specially made for kids.
The vessels are of particular interest to families with small children, as the little ones, for example, can bake cookies there. On another ship, the parents can give the small visitors into the hands of beauticians which paint the childrens faces. Or maybe your little one would have pleasure to take part in a little play?
Parents can relax
The parents won't be bored aswell. One of the ships - the theatership - serves them with coffee and pastries and a great view on the Alster. And their little ones are of course welcomed here! The entrance to the fairy ship is free. Only if a kid wants to take part at the bakery, a small fee is desired (2010: 1, - €). This fee usually will will be donated to a charitable institution. The Hamburg fairy-tale ships are all in all a truly magical idea for the younger guests as well as their parents or other visitors.
